You have more than enough lights, but you never get any darker than a few midtones. The hair especially could benefit from some shading so that it doesn't fade into the background quite so well. Overall, I like it, but if it were mine I'd have the urge to shade like a maniac.  Iseult Murphy replies: "Yes, the colour is very light. I have tried to change this in my other pictures, but I have a lot of work to do with bringing light sources into my pictures and shadow. I tend to colour everything with even light, which doesn't help the realism or depth. This is my third or fourth attempt at this picture and i am happy enough with the pose etc but I am becoming increasingly more unhappy with the colour especially as (I hope) my work improves, so I might do it again. *imagines you shading like a maniac* heehee! Iseult Murphy replies: "I am not entirely sure what you mean about the colour, but if you mean that they are a little faded, I agree. It is partly due to the scanner and partly due to the actual colouring. My newer pictures I tweak the contrast on the pc to make it look more like the original. Thanks for the lovely comment." | |
